Tip of Nordø honoured as one of Copenhagen’s best new buildings

The Tip of Nordø has just been recognised as one of the award-winning projects at the Copenhagen Building Award 2025. The project is praised for its high architectural quality and for establishing a new, striking landmark at the tip of Nordø.

The jury highlights projects and places that succeed to honour and respect a site’s unique character while improving the experience of Copenhagen as a city.

A New Landmark for Nordhavn

With its distinctive circular form, the Tip of Nordø rises 60 metres into the air at the entrance to Copenhagen’s Nordhavn, standing as a new architectural landmark in Nordhavn.

The facade reflects both the sea and the sky in a sculptural expression: a total of 925 facade elements—covering 12,000 square metres—are strategically positioned in relation to the sun’s path to optimise daylight conditions and energy performance, while ensuring a healthy indoor climate across the building’s 14 floors.

A Building that Embraces Urban Life

Referencing the area’s history as an industrial harbour, dominated by silos, the cylindrical shape of the office building creates the impression of a structure without a backside.

Inside, the Tip of Nordø houses a lush public garden, functioning as an open and welcoming atrium accessible to all. The surrounding outdoor space has also been activated, inviting the public all the way to the tip of Nordø—regardless of the season.

About the Copenhagen Building Award

Since 1903, the Copenhagen Municipality has celebrated buildings, public spaces, and urban projects that contribute to the architectural culture and vibrancy of the Danish capital. Award-winning projects are distinguished by their quality, sustainability, and respect for a site’s identity.

The projects are evaluated by a jury comprising professional experts, civil servants, and politicians, ensuring a holistic assessment of architecture, function, and urban impact.

We have designed the Tip of Nordø in close collaboration with Cobe and Third Nature. The building was developed by PFA Ejendomme, and in early 2024 law firm Bech-Bruun and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners moved in to the building.
