Construction is well underway of the new 6,000m2 head office for the global water environmental consultants, DHI. Today there is a topping-out ceremony for the new head office, which will be located on a natural plot in DTU Science Park in Hørsholm. The new office building is expected to be completed in 2019 and has been designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects in close cooperation with Hoffmann, DTU Science Park, and the future tenant, DHI.

Today’s topping-out ceremony in Hørsholm celebrates the fact that DTU Science Park will soon have a new 6,000m2, three-storey head office for the global consultancy firm, DHI, which analyses aquatic environments. The architectural design is inspired by the aquatic environment and focuses on activity-based interior design.

DTU Science Park forms the setting for Denmark’s leading deep tech community – with more than 260 companies and more than 3,400 researchers, entrepreneurs, business developers, and pioneering staff.

Exceptional Natural Site and High Level of User Involvement Results in Successful Design

The exceptionally beautiful location on a plot with dense vegetation inspired the architectural expression both inside and out. The design of the building features excellent, varied views of the surrounding woodland and the small lake.

The process has involved a high degree of user involvement. DHI wanted the new office building to reflect the identity of the organisation and its relationship to water and the environment. The aquatic environment, in particular, formed a conceptual basis for the choice of materials, which include raw concrete and untreated steel and timber.

The project has been developed by Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects in collaboration with Hoffmann, DTU Science Park and the future tenant, DHI, who was involved from the outset.
