LIDL – Peter Rørdamsvej

The building stands as a clear volume in brick that takes up the special geometry of the site. We wanted to create our own world of life with a special garden. The building is anchored in the local area with commerce on the ground floor and a living green garden space with surrounding multi-level housing. In the garden space, an inner calm is created, supported by the building, which keeps out the vibrant life of the city. The building height reflects the surrounding buildings in the area, which with its materiality maintain a kinship with the neighboring properties. The building culminates in a precise square formation to the south.

Housing and shop - on the corner between Peter Rørdams vej and Tuborgvej

 

The total building volume appears angular with an inner living and green courtyard. A shop is placed on the ground floor, spanning the width of the plot. Above the store, housing is placed, which appears respectively as terraced houses in 3 levels and housing in one level. The angular building varies from 1 to 4 storeys and scales down towards the northern existing neighboring buildings. The courtyard is laid at the height of the 1st floor. Here, a green, sheltered and welcoming world is created for the residents.

 

At the heart of the building is a roof garden that forms green pockets for the building's residents. Momentarily opens with skylights to the shop below. The skylight helps to create spaciousness in the courtyard.

 

The facades appear in shiny red-brown bricks that have changing shades. The area is known for buildings in yellow and reddish-brown bricks, therefore it is desired to use brick as the primary building expression. The brick building is complemented by frames of bay windows and store overhangs in light aluminum or zinc.
