Copenhagen Airport selected as one of the best in the world

Each year, readers of Condé Nast Traveller identify the places around the globe they love most and return to again and again. Hotels, restaurants, cities, and airports are among the categories in which readers choose their favourites, and this year, Copenhagen Airport has earned a place among the world’s most appreciated airports.

Celebrated for its calm atmosphere, warm organic interiors, and minimalist visual language, Copenhagen Airport, which celebrated its 100-year anniversary in 2025, has long distinguished itself on the international stage. Despite its scale, typical for the airport typology, it is consistently praised for its human-centred design. Travellers often describe it as hyggelig, highlighting its short walking distances, intuitive flows, the generous amount of daylight, and abundance of retail and dining opportunities.

Our relationship with Copenhagen Airport dates back to 1939, when Vilhelm Lauritzen designed what is widely considered the world’s first purpose-built commercial airport terminal: the Vilhelm Lauritzen Terminal. Since then, we have collaborated on numerous projects, most recently the expansion of Terminal 3 Airside: an addition of more than 60,000 m² expected to open to travellers in 2027.

Over the decades, we have had the pleasure of contributing significantly to the airport’s architectural evolution, designing Terminal 2 in 1960, Terminal 3 in 1998, the control tower in 2005, and the metro station in 2007, among other projects.

About the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards

The Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards are based on an online survey conducted in 2025, in which a total of 757,109 votes were cast across categories including Cities, Hotels and Airports.

To qualify, airports must have received a minimum number of responses and reached a required overall rating. Voters used a five-point scale, converted into percentages; final scores were averaged across all relevant criteria and published to two decimal places.

According to the 2025 Readers’ Choice survey, the following airports made the top 10 globally:
