Architectural intern

The internship lived up to my expectations. I feel like I developed a lot. It was probably also because there was a lot of attention around my development in the team I was part of, and not just on the project.

In the beginning, I wasn’t associated with one project but had the opportunity to try out different types of projects, participate in several construction phases and work with different architects. I think that was one of the best things about my internship. I got the chance to explore different areas and understand my skills better.

The week typically started with a meeting, so you always were updated with different projects, etc. The meeting also made it possible for everyone to share their experiences and talk about what tasks lie ahead and who is working on what. Otherwise, I worked very independently, but there was always someone to help or give good advice when I needed it – even on the busiest days.

The atmosphere in the design studio is very relaxed and easygoing. We have lunch together, so it’s a great way to meet new colleagues and enjoy the good weather in the summer on our terrace!

I have learned a lot from the architects at Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects. They are both skilled, professional and they place a very high value on a social community. Although we are many, almost 150, I have never felt lost. There has always been someone to help me.

The internship allowed me to explore and challenge my skills in the areas I was interested in. And with the variety of VLA’s projects, I’m sure there’s something for everyone.
