Since 1922, Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects have improved human lives through functional architecture and design. Our work is rooted in classic Nordic modernism dominated by an ‘inside out’ approach, where functionality, context and inclusivity guide the design process.
Based on the foundation of modernism and the values of propriety, equality and a strong sense of community we have grown over the years to become one of Denmark’s largest independent architectural practices. Across various segments, we design and build large and small-scale projects with a strong experience within high-complex typologies. And despite being a century old, we are front-runners of digitalisation with development projects in A.I. and blockchain.
Housed in an old 1920s warehouse in the Nordhavn district of Copenhagen, our headquarters include a modern office environment with an open terrace, a virtual reality studio, a model workshop and a material library. In 2014, we transformed it from a storage facility into a contemporary architectural studio with direct water views of the quayside and the city.
We are a community rounded by the centennial legacy of Vilhelm Lauritzen, one of Denmark’s greatest modern architects and the founder of our studio. He believed that good architecture should be for everyone – never a privilege for the few.
A strong culture of innovation has anchored our studio for almost a century. Today, we are 150 architects, technicians and administrative staff that design and plan all types of buildings and urban spaces.
Over the years, we have secured significant experience on high-complexity projects as a trusted adviser within segments, such as hospitals, infrastructure, life science and media.
