211 raw hotel rooms rising in Ørestad

Last Friday marked the topping-out ceremony for the upcoming Zleep Hotel Copenhagen Arena in Ørestad. With its raw style and 211 rooms near the metro, motorway, and the popular multi-arena Royal Arena, the hotel will offer an affordable alternative for concertgoers and tourists in the capital.

The six-storey hotel will feature a fitness centre and breakfast restaurant, and alongside it, a parking facility and a Burger King will be built – all designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects. The hotel is laid out as a courtyard block with a continuous corridor and rooms on either side. Half of the rooms face Ørestads Boulevard and the city buzz, while the other half face an inner courtyard shared with private rental apartments on the opposite side.

“For the sake of the urban environment, the building is designed to blend naturally into its surroundings. And with a courtyard shared with local residents, we have sought to create a setting where tourists can meet locals and gain an insight into Danish culture,” says Torsten Stephensen, partner at Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects.

Externally, the hotel will feature a light, polished façade and terrazzo, with solar panels on the roof. Raw concrete will be used as an active part of the room interiors, giving them an industrial and minimalist look.

“There is a great honesty in the hotel’s interior, which stays true to Zleep Hotels’ concept: clean lines and robust materials. And with the combination of housing, business, and culture, the new block contributes to making Ørestad a district that is alive around the clock,” says Torsten Stephensen.

Zleep Hotel Copenhagen Arena is being developed by ATP Ejendomme with Gråkjær as contractor and is scheduled to open in spring 2020.
