Inauguration of Pilelunden Children’s House

In Blovstrød, the new Pilelunden children’s house was officially inaugurated on Thursday. The institution’s design stimulates children’s play and curiosity while integrating nature.

Pilelunden is the first of two new planned institutions linked to Blovstrød School. They will ensure that Blovstrød can meet a growing population and offer modern daycare facilities with space for play and learning.

Among those attending the inauguration were Mayor Karsten Längerich, along with children, parents, educators, and neighbours.

The first of two new children’s houses

Pilelunden is the first of two planned children’s houses in Blovstrød, designed to provide well-functioning facilities for new residents.

The building was designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects in an early tender phase. It consists of two staggered wings with an interior featuring multiple levels.

The house is designed with a series of interior spaces that inspire children of all ages, encouraging play, movement, and immersion. The outdoor space is broken down into smaller play areas sheltered from wind and weather, becoming a natural extension of the indoor group and communal rooms.

By taking advantage of the terrain, there is direct outdoor access from both the ground and first floors, creating a seamless transition between indoors and outdoors and maintaining contact with nature.

In the common areas, children can meet across age groups, easing the transition from childminder or nursery to kindergarten. In addition to nursery and kindergarten children, a group of childminder children will visit the children’s house on fixed days each week.

Blovstrød also plans to build another children’s house, Bøgelunden, which is scheduled for completion in mid-2020.
