Groundbreaking - second phase of Marmobyen

The first sod for next phase of the 14,000m2 of Marmormolen, the west housing estate of Marmorbyen, was cut on the 17th of June 2015.

The speeches held by Jens Kramer Mikkelsen, CEO at CPH City & Port, Helen Kobæk, CEO at PenSam, and Martin Palmquist, Managing Director at NCC Construction Denmark, was characterized by the positive spirit and enthusiasm for the project:

‘Marmormolen has one of the most eminent locations in Copenhagen. There is a view to the docks, as well as the location is central, near Østerbro, S-trains, the future Metro, and the Århusgade District on the other side of the dock. It is important that the quality of the project goes hand in hand with the location. I am pleased that we in cooperation with PenSam are building this beautiful housing estate of high quality’, said Jens Kramer Mikkelsen, CEO, CPH City & Port.

The housing estate in the second phase of Marmormolen, with apartments between 80 and 140m2, will be ready for occupation at the beginning of 2017. The east housing estate has prepared for occupancy this autumn, and 80 % of the 140 dwellings are rented out for the time being.

Marmorbyen will be located right next to the new UN City with canals and basins situated on three out of the four sides – a natural continuation of the Østerbro District towards the harbor. The buildings are primarily three to five stories high, designed in the simple and beautiful Nordic housing tradition.

The housing estate is a result of a housing competition won in 2013 by Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects in cooperation with NCC Construction Denmark.
