Niels Bohr Building selected as one of the world’s most beautiful campuses by Prix Versailles

The Niels Bohr Building at Copenhagen University has been selected as one of only six finalists worldwide for Prix Versailles 2025 in the World’s Most Beautiful Campuses category. The award celebrates educational buildings where architecture strengthens the framework for learning, research, and community.

“These new centres of excellence can become real incubators. They inspire a hope for a major ecological, social and cultural revolution that the world needs now more than ever.”
— Jérôme Gouadain, Secretary General, Prix Versailles

We are proud and honoured that the Niels Bohr Building is among the selected finalists. The project was developed in collaboration with CCO Architects and brings together past and future: it is both an architectural tribute to Danish Nobel laureate Niels Bohr and a realisation of the vision to create future-proof, contemporary spaces for education and scientific discovery.

The project brings together the Faculty of Science and the Department of Computer Science at the University of Copenhagen under one roof. The result is a modern campus environment with flexible laboratories, open common areas, and clear connections that make the building accessible, inclusive, and human in scale.
At the same time, the building brings different disciplines closer together—both physically and mentally. It encourages cross-disciplinary collaboration and strengthens the daily exchange of knowledge and ideas.

We believe architecture makes a difference. It influences how we work, learn, and thrive. The Niels Bohr Building was created with exactly that in mind. That’s why it is a special honour to be among the finalists for Prix Versailles. Read more about the award and the other finalists.

What’s next? In December, three of the six projects will be awarded a World Title – Prix Versailles in the categories of architecture, interior, or exterior design.
