Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects, Karlsson Architects, and artist Malene Landgreen have received the Colour Award 2016 for the colour scheme of the decoration of the new psychiatric hospital in Slagelse.
The Colour Award is being given out by The Danish Federation of Master Painters and the foundation of Kirsten & Freddy Johansen, and it was presented on the new psychiatric hospital, which has more than 50 different colours spread over the 44,000m2.
The Colour Award Committee has weighted awareness and interaction in their assessment: ‘The award is bestowed for the work on the colour scheme and decoration of Psychiatry Slagelse; for the conscious choice of colours – muted and yet challenging. At the same time, the award is given out for the deliberate interplay between colour scheme and architecture; throughout the colours creates unique experiences with the transparent building‘.
The new psychiatric hospital in Slagelse was inaugurated in August 2015, and Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects won the design contest in collaboration with Karlsson Architects in 2010.
