The Tip of Nordø is complete

Copenhagen have a new landmark with the completion of the Tip of Nordø, which now invites urban life all the way to the end of the new area of Copenhagen, where sky and sea meet the city.

With its striking circular shape, the Tip of Nordø now rises 60 meters at Copenhagen’s harbour front. Designed in close collaboration with Cobe, the Tip of Nordø now stands as a new architectural landmark, marking the completion of the first finished neighbourhood in Copenhagen's new area, Nordhavn.

The spectacular cylindrical shape refers to the surrounding transformed silos and tells the story of the area that  once served as an industrial harbour for decades. Now, Bech-Bruun and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners are moving in, getting to enjoy a modern and attractive workplace where employees’ changing needs are met.

A meeting point for everyone

Inside, the public space of the city and the private space of the building’s offices merges into a public winter garden, where tall trees stretch towards the sky in the impressive room large of scale. Designed by Third Nature, the winter garden and the outdoor areas surrounding the building – which, due to its circular form, appears to have no backside – invite everyone to the very tip all year round.

Reflecting the sky and the sea, the iconic facade changes the building’s appearance as the day goes, the weather shifts, and the seasons pass. Based on hour-by-hour weather simulations, the 925 facade elements are designed to optimize daylight and energy efficiency, while ensuring a pleasant and healthy indoor climate across the building’s 14 floors.

With the vision of creating a landmark for the neighbourhood and meeting place for all residents in Copenhagen, we, together with Cobe and Third Nature, won the competition in 2016 to design the 26.000 m2 office building. Now complete, it stands as a distinctive and functional landmark, marking the completion of the first finished neighbourhood in Nordhavn and signals the area’s transformation from decades of industry into a new, vibrant urban district.
