The Water Culture House is ready for construction

Copenhagen’s forthcoming Water Culture House, on Papirøen, is now ready to go into the construction phase after Ejendomsfonden Vandkulturhuset Papirøen and MT Højgaard Denmark have signed the final turnkey contract.

The building was designed by star architect Kengo Kuma with Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects as sub-consultant. With its location by the city harbour, the building will be a cultural and popular meeting place for all of Copenhagen’s inhabitants and association activities.

“The development of the project has taken place in close collaboration with consultants, contractors and authorities, and we have now received the building permit and the turnkey contract has been signed so we can get started”, says Erik Jæger, chairman of Ejendomsfonden Vandkulturhuset Papirøen, who is the client.

According to the plan, the Water Culture House will open to the public in mid-2025 and will be built by Ejendomsfonden Vandkulturhuset Papirøen for use by Copenhagen Municipality with support from the Nordea Foundation.
