Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects prequalified for diabetes center in world-class

Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects is prequalified for Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen (SDCC) together with COWI, Mikkelsen Architects, and STED Landscape architects.

The vision is to establish a diabetes center in world-class, bringing together competencies related to treating people with diabetes, clinical diabetes research, and education. SDCC will have an important role as a dynamo for the entire diabetes field and is owned by the Capital Region of Denmark and funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation by almost 3 billion DKK.

The new diabetes center, with a total of 20,000m2, will be Northern Europe’s largest and most modern diabetes center and will be located in a new building at Herlev Hospital. SDCC will have the capacity to treat 11,000–13,000 people annually and is expected to be completed in 2020.
