Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects has been prequalified to participate in a restricted design competition for ‘residential housing with special identity at Kronløbsøen and Fortkaj’ with COBE, STED Urban and Landscape Architects, and Rambøll Denmark.
The competition includes a residential housing project of approximately 25,000m2, to be erected on an artificial island in Kronløbsbassinet in the city district named Århusgade. The island will house parking facilities, situated under water, for approximately 1,000 cars.
The island will be connected to the neighbouring districts with three bridges: one bridge from Fortkaj to Kronløbsøen for necessary traffic and two bridges from Sundmolen to Kronløbsøen for pedestrians and cyclists.
In addition to the residences on the island, a small building project will be accomplished at Fortkaj, opposite Kronløbsøen, where the basement will house the access ramps to a subsea connection to the car park.
The winning team will design the residential housing project as well as the parking facilities, up until the preliminary design stage. Thereafter the task will be offered in a single turnkey contract with the consultants as a condition of supply.
The competition period runs from late March to mid-June 2016.
