In Bakkekvarteret in Vinge, we are working to find the answer. Every aspect of the project is designed with the principle of minimising CO₂ emissions, with LCA guiding the way. With an ambition to keep the footprint below 5 kg CO₂-eq./m²/year and a goal of achieving the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, the project places high demands on the entire construction process—from material selection to building methods.
To achieve this, ground floors are made of timber instead of concrete, requiring a well-thought-out moisture strategy. Materials are carefully chosen, including screw piles, cellulose insulation, and OSB instead of traditional vapour barriers. At the same time, the timber frame elements are parametrically designed, allowing them to be sent directly into production and arrive on-site ready for assembly. This reduces waste and improves efficiency in construction!
Bakkekvarteret will comprise 88 homes in one and two storeys. The project is the result of a strong collaboration between the developer Ikano Bolig, contractor Adserballe & Knudsen A/S, and with consultants Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects, STED By og Landskab, and ABC Rådgivende Ingeniører.
