Odense’s new 71,000-square-metre neighbourhood, Thors Have, is now officially underway.
The first phase will involve the construction of 100 social housing units designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects.
Just outside Odense city centre, an important groundbreaking ceremony took place this Tuesday. As the starting point for the Thors Have residential area, the next two years will see the construction of 70 family homes, 30 senior residences, and a 200-square-metre community house. The development will be situated on the border between city and nature, on land that previously housed barracks for the Højstrup military training grounds.
"Over the coming years, Thors Have will rise from an abandoned military site into an exciting and recreational residential neighbourhood that benefits from both Odense’s vibrant urban life and the tranquillity of its green surroundings," says Torsten Stephensen, senior partner at Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects.
