Timber project to test voluntary sustainability standard

Leading up to 2023, when the new voluntary sustainability standard comes into effect, 31 projects supported by Realdania will pilot the scheme. One of the selected projects is 115 new timber family homes designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects for Boligselskabet Sjælland.

Sustainable construction in Denmark will soon have even more structured experience to draw upon. The new sustainability standard will take effect in 2023, but before then it will be tested. In June, Realdania opened a funding pool for developers to apply for support for the pilot phase and has now selected 31 projects covering both public and private construction across Denmark.

One of the chosen projects is 115 social housing family homes in timber, to be located in the new residential area of Skousbo near Viby Sjælland. Behind the project are Boligselskabet Sjælland, Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects, Adserballe & Knudsen, and Holmsgaard Consulting Engineers.
