Anniversary, acquisitions and stable turnover in a turbulent year

The annual accounts of Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects for 2022 show an almost unchanged turnover of DKK 119.6 million and a profit of DKK 12 million before tax. Investment in growth and jubilee, together with a volatile market, affected earnings.

After Friday's general assembly at Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects, the annual accounts for 2022 have been published. The company had a turnover of DKK 119 million and the annual result was DKK 12 million before tax.

The combination of planned long-term investments, among other things in the Aarhus architectural firm Kjær & Richter and the town planning and landscape architect STED, and a market with increased interest rates and reduced access to project financing, has affected the bottom line compared to previous years, but still provided a return that can withstand comparison with competitors.

"We are coming from a year of uncertainty in the market, where we have experienced projects being put on hold and suddenly started again. It has required tight resource management, and has occasionally been quite challenging," says Gyrithe Saltorp, managing director of Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects about the year's result and elaborates:

"At the same time, we have made several large planned investments as part of our long-term growth strategy. We have invested in our 100-year anniversary and brand, bought two companies that have provided greater geographical coverage and the opportunity to deliver integrated holistic solutions, and developed digital tools to handle CO2 calculations flexibly and on demand. When you look at our normalized numbers and results in general, it looks satisfactory overall.”

"We are proud that over several years we have maintained a high level of activity, meet the quality management and reporting requirements for the projects and constantly develop our advice and tools", says Gyrithe Saltorp.

A more stable 2023

In 2022, the company won i.a. the new headquarters for the Defense Intelligence Service in an OPP collaboration, just as there is still high activity on a number of large projects and new ones have been added in 2023.

"We are experiencing that the uncertainty in the market is reduced and that 2023 is more stable. There is a reasonable flow of projects that we develop with serious builders, and our customer survey supports the experience of seriousness and a focus on development in the market.”

In the coming year, Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects will continue to focus on strengthening its independent consultancy and market position through growth in new markets, synergy effects achieved in the collaboration with Kjaer & Richter and STED, further development of specialist and digital competences and a focus on reducing the construction's CO2 footprint.
