The Ø-house in Ørestad

300 new rental apartments close to Amager Fælled and Ørestaden's rapid urban development.

Vilhelm Lauritzen Arkitekter has designed the last residential building in the Byparken area in Ørestad City Nord. The building consists of 300 rental homes and 975m2 of retail space. The building revolves around the green courtyard that gives the homes their name, as a peaceful island (ø) in the city.

The vision has been to build a residential area with exciting sheltered courtyards in contrast to the open Amager Fælled. Another important point has been to create homes that, in terms of materials and architecture, are long-lasting. Homes with distinctive features and their own identity, based on a sensible and durable concept.

The homes are thus dedicated to Ørestad, where the special view and light conditions are optimized in the individual home, all depending on the location in the development. Architecturally, the building is part of the simple and beautiful Nordic housing tradition, which with its human scale and living facades is still among the most attractive housing types.
